The follow up to Gorillaz’ 2005 album Demon Days is here with a less than mainstream sound but do not get me wrong, it is still great. Plastic Beach is a fairly cohesive album that should be listened to in its entirety before forming an opinion, or even before you judge its sound by the first catchy single, “Stylo.” The ever evolving Gorillaz pulled out some big guns to help with this CD such as Mos Def on “Sweepstakes,” De La Soul on “Superfast Jellyfish,” and “Welcome to the Plastic Beach” featuring Long Beach’s own Snoop Dogg. While it’s hard to find a CD that you can enjoy from start to finish, this one comes pretty damn close. If you are expecting a repeat of the old Gorillaz sound Plastic Beach might leave you disappointed. But if you want something new to have on repeat in your iPod, Plastic Beach will have you singing the praises of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett once again.
