High on South Park

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then everyone involved in the medical marijuana movement should be flattered. South Park is a show that stays consistently edgy after all these years and this time around; there is a different kind of pot on the front burner. Here is the scenario…

When Cartman’s favorite restaurant KFC turns into a medicinal marijuana dispensary he is livid. Stan’s dad Randy on the other hand, can’t wait to get high and goes to the doc to get a prescription. Of course the doctor denies Randy because he is a healthy man stating that medical marijuana is for AIDS, Cancer, and people going through chemo.  People have been misusing the medicine for recreational use but in South Park, marijuana is now legal with a prescription. Randy then goes through great lengths to get cancer so he can partake in the meds. He try’s excessive sun exposure and eventually puts his dick in the microwave and get’s testicular cancer thus, getting his herb plus HUGE balls. Eventually many of the men in South Park purposely get testicular cancer so they can access the meds and end up happy with cancer and very stoned hopping around on their big balls. Seriously, you can’t make this shit up!!

In the mean time, KFC becomes an underground “drug ring” if you will. Cartman becomes involved in the illegal movement making KFC trades and eventually getting raided by the feds.

The message? The comparison of marijuana to fast food is brilliant. The illegality of a plant verses fast food is almost metaphoric. Making Coronel Sanders into a violent “Chicken King Pin” and marijuana users as happy go lucky “ball” bouncers speaks volumes. No one using marijuana to medicate is violent. They are patients with ailments! They don’t whip out machine guns and kill for their meds. Can you imagine how great it would be if marijuana was legal everywhere and there wasn’t a stigmata behind it? It happened tonight on South Park and to that I say thank you Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Thank you for humanizing marijuana as a medication and showing that over abuse of anything could possibly render it illegal. Even a plant.
