Album: Sky Sailing
Artist: Owl City
Sky Sailing is a look back into the early recordings of Adam Young, the solo artist behind Owl City. Sky Sailing is a real breath of fresh air after Own City’s release of it’s album Ocean Eyes. Being familiar with Owl City’s small discography I found Ocean Eyes to be a little “recycled”. It felt as though Adam put his previous two albums into a blender and Ocean Eyes was the result.
Sky Sailing is much different.
Perhaps that is why it sounds more like a progression than a look back. One of the things that sets this album a part is the heavy use of acoustic guitar. This addition lends a sense of sincerity to the romantically themed music of Young, and gives the otherwise electronic music scape an organic depth. If you liked Ocean eyes, you will love Sky Sailing even more.
My favorite Tracks: Track#2 Brielle and Track#5 A Little Opera Goes A Long Way
